From energetic, adventure-filled days in Peru to an unexpected pause in Germany, we found ourselves looking for answers from specialists—answers that never came. Carlien was diagnosed with a (benign) cartilage tumor in her hip, causing unbearable pain during the 18 months between its removal and her hip replacement surgery. Our time in Germany was intense—a period marked by challenges, recovery, and even burnout. But looking back, it was also a time that brought us closer together and fueled our desire for new adventures.

After a long period of recovery, we took a six-month sabbatical, living out of a backpack while exploring Australia and New Zealand. This adventure sparked the idea for our next big leap: running an online business from our self-converted camper—our very own studio on wheels. But before hitting the road, a new chapter brought us to France, where the concept for our business truly took shape, paving the way for our new lifestyle we live today.
